Relations and exchanges

From its beginnings in 2009, the master's degree is considered as a postgraduate studies program linked to different artistic institutions of the city of Madrid. The collaborations with art centers and scenic spaces allow the participants to make contact with the agents and the cultural fabric of the city. The main venue where the activities take place is the Reina Sofía Museum.

In addition to this stable collaboration, the MA is related to other artistic institutions in different types of activities:
  1. Organization of seminars, encounters and festivals

We have shared, with the artistic and academic community and with the general public, many of the research and artistic activities that take place in the environment of the MA, through curatorial projects and festivals. These are spaces where creation and research processes are shared, but also conference cycles, debates and laboratories with artists are organized. In collaboration with Matadero (Madrid): Within the framework of the "Program of Advanced Studies in Critical Practices" of the Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid):
  • Between 2012 and 2016, we have annually held a public call for researchers and artists who want to participate in the independent program "Teatralidades expandidas". This program is dedicated to the investigation of the relationship between the forms of social and artistic theatricality, so that one can observe the transformation of traditional social theatricality modes and locate dissident theatricalities in their relation with the production of specific artistic forms. In this framework we have organized the following groups:
  1. Research group Teatralidades Expandidas: Cuerpo y Democracia It has studied how changes in the conception of the categories of citizenship and representation in the political sphere are related to new ways of understanding and practicing theatricality in the social and artistic fields / OCTOBER 2015 - MARCH 2016
  2. Research group Ser o no ser un cuerpo It proposes joint practices within the framework of a mixed group formed by adults and children. Within the framework of the research group generated in the program of critical practices "Ser o no ser un cuerpo", a book has been published: Ser (una isla) (2018), a practice of artistic-pedagogical research that goes through the art of action, dance, philosophy, teaching and the visual arts. The conferences of Santiago Alba Rico in this seminar are included in his book Ser o no ser (un cuerpo) published by Seix Barral (2017)/NOVEMBER 2014 - APRIL 2015
  3. Research group Teatralidades expandidas: Redes de afecto  It investigates forms of theatricality that work in spaces of coexistence that were traditionally considered private. As a primary sphere of theatricality, the family structure is in a process of change that attends to more heterogeneous, expanded, intermittent and irregular formations / JANUARY - MAY 2014
  4. Grupo de investigación Modelos gestuales y repertorios disidentes It studies the ways in which the theatrical acts as an instrument of submission, modeling or social replication, and when, on the contrary, it serves as a tool of resistance, re-configuration or dissidence / JANUARY - JUNE 2013.

  1. Exchanges and agreements with universities and training centers

Beyond the rich cultural environment of the city of Madrid, we have established networks with spaces and programs with whom we share affinities in our understanding of art practice as research and an expansive notion of the performing arts. Azala - espacio de creation in the Basque Country shares its facilities with the MPECV annually for two to four weeks for the organization of workshops and artists residencies. We have established cooperative agreements with related international programs, such as the MITAV (Interdisciplinary Master in Theatre and Live Arts) at the Nacional University of Colombia (Bogota), el Centro de Investigación a.pass. (Bruselas), HEAD. Haute École d'art et de design (Geneve), la Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático (RESAD)  (Madrid). Within the Erasmus exchange program "Practicing composition, making practice" (2013), we have established an agreement with MA SODA (Berlin). We have as week collaborated with six European programs: MA Choreography, School of Dance (Arnhem), Master in Choreography (Helsinki), Teatro Pradillo (Madrid), MA Dance Theatre: The Body in Performance (Londres), Dance Programme (Falmouth), Performance Dramaturgy (Zagreb) and Master en investigación de prácticas artísticas y visuales(Cuenca) y Máster en Historia del arte contemporáneo y cultura Visual (Madrid)
